TLS French Class Week 6

This week we started talking more about preferences – what we like, don’t like, love, & hate – with fall activities: pumpkins vs. apples, apple cider vs. hot chocolate, hayrides vs. corn mazes, etc.  Students drew a chart with pictures to show their likes & dislikes for fall.

1. Likes & Dislikes – key phrases to practice

Tu préfères le cidre de pomme 🍎 ou le chocolat chaud ? 🍫☕

🙋‍♂️ Je préfère le chocolat chaud ! 🍫☕

👍🏻 J’aime les pommes. 🍎

👎🏻 Je n’aime pas faire un labyrinthe de maïs. 🌽

😍 J’adore faire de la randonnée dans la forêt. 🌲

😝 Je déteste les citrouilles. 🎃

2. Phonics: Les voyelles – the vowels

As you review your notebook this week, keep noticing the vowels – a, e, i, o, u, y. We practiced reading different vowel syllables and how they combine to make words we already know.

Examples:

  • la table
  • la banane
  • le wifi
  • le garage
  • ça va mal

Here’s a video that combines the vowel sounds with preferences.

3. Le calendrier – les 4 saisons

Each week we talk about the calendar and say when different activities or holidays happen. This week we worked on adding the 4 seasons of the year and saying which month was in which season.

4. Nouvelle Chanson – New song

This song is a great brain break! It gets us up and moving around. I sent home a copy of the words to practice reading and singing. Sing and do the actions as quickly as you can!
